Abstract

Consist of the correspondence and related documents of the executive officers (president, president-elect, past president, vice president, secretary-treasurer and program chairmen) and of the founders of the Academy. Founders' correspondence is primarily that of Charles L. Jamison on the initial efforts to establish the Academy (1938), and that of Jamison, Robert Davis, Karl D. Reyer, John F. Mee, and Ronald B. Shulman on the revitalization of the Academy after World War II (1947-1948). Also includes selected correspondence of the following executive officers during their tenures in office (1955-1977): Ronald B. Shulman, William Goetz, Joseph W. Towle, George R. Terry, Merten J. Mandeville, Dalton E. McFarland, Keith Davis, Harold F. Smiddy, Max Richards, Robert D. Henderson, Preston P. Le Breton, Ernest Dale, Paul J. Gordon, Seward Robb, William B. Wolf, Joseph A. Litterer, George A. Steiner, Herbert G. Hicks, Joseph W. McGuire, Charles E. Summer, Stanley C. Vance, Lyman W. Porter, and Rosemary Pledger. Of note is correspondence with the Council for Professional Education for Business (1955-1966), the American Management Association (1971-1972), and the Council on International Progress (1968-1972) regarding inter-organizational working relations and that of Wolf, Summer and Steiner on the establishment of Academy Professional Divisions (1967-1972) and on the revision of the administrative structure of the Academy (1969-1972).
